Bill Robertie

Bill Robertie, whose full name is William Gerard Robertie, was born on July 9, 1946, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. He is a renowned player and author in the fields of backgammon, chess, and poker. As of 2022, he is among the six players who have twice won the World Backgammon Championship, in 1983 and 1987. Additionally, Robertie won the Pro-Am in Bahamas in 1993 and the Istanbul World Cup in 1994.

Robertie, a Harvard alumnus, collaborated with Dan Harrington, the 1995 World Champion, to write a seven-book series on tournament no-limit Texas hold’em titled Harrington on Hold ’em. These books were published by Two Plus Two Publishing.

Bill Robertie is a player and author in the realms of backgammon, chess, and poker. He holds the distinction of being one of only three backgammon players to have clinched the Monte Carlo World Backgammon Championship twice, achieving this feat in the years 1983 and 1987. In addition to this, Robertie emerged victorious in the Pro-Am in the Bahamas in 1993 and the Istanbul World Cup in 1994. In the world of chess, he claimed victory in the U.S. Speed Chess tournament in 1970.
